WASSCE troubles; Physics paper leaks. Adds to three more leakages Featured

news233.com can confirm that the Physics Practical paper of the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) exams has leaked.

The leaked paper was obtained Tuesday evening, 12 clear hours before the paper was to be taken Wednesday morning at 9pm.

The leaked paper adds to three more question papers that have leaked since the exam began last Friday.  The integrity of examination papers for Social Studies, Integrated Science and Oral English has already been compromised.

Social media, especially Whatsapp, now provides a magnetic point of convergence for opportunistic students and leaking agents to share sensitive materials much more effectively than ever before.

A source who is a teacher told news233.com, his Whatsapp kept beeping after 9pm Tuesday evening as several students began sending him the leaked papers.

Myjoyonline.com has learnt that students of remedial schools have especially become aggressive in securing copies of the paper before the exams in the hope of avoiding another re-sit.

The fourth leak in seven days resurrects a recurrent theme of exam leakages, a major headache for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) which is the examination administration body.

Education minister Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang had expressed the hope that the examination administration body would stem the tide of massive leakages experienced in 2015.

“We have identified some of the loopholes and taken measures to prevent a repeat of the disaster that befell us last year,” she told the media at the start of the exams.

The WASSCE is ongoing across 667 centres. It involves 274,255 candidates from 897 Senior High Schools. It is expected to end on May 13, 2016.
